3. Setup

3.3 Connecting to the GARDENA smart Gateway and App

The GARDENA smart Sensor requires a GARDENA smart Gateway (sold separately) for operation and communication with the GARDENA smart App. Follow the instructions provided with your GARDENA smart Gateway to connect it to your home network.

Once the Gateway is set up, open the GARDENA smart App on your smartphone or tablet. The app will guide you through the process of adding new devices. Select the option to add a new sensor and follow the on-screen prompts to pair your GARDENA smart Sensor with the Gateway. The sensor will enter pairing mode automatically when batteries are inserted.

Once successfully set up and connected, the GARDENA smart Sensor will begin collecting data on soil moisture, ambient temperature, and light intensity. This data is regularly transmitted to your GARDENA smart Gateway and then made available through the GARDENA smart App.

Launch the GARDENA smart App to view real-time and historical data from your sensor. The app provides an intuitive interface to display the measured values, allowing you to understand the current conditions of your garden.

The primary function of the smart Sensor is to provide data that optimizes your watering schedule. Based on the measured soil moisture, temperature, and light intensity, you can adjust the settings for your GARDENA Watering Control (if part of your smart system) directly within the app.
